Posted - 06 Jun 2012 : 9:46:15 PM This is a game of Survival - the struggle to remain alive and living.
First Game.
The Swarm of the Flesh-Eating Bacteria.
Necrotising fasciitis and cellulitis,
Biological warfare (also known as germ warfare) is the use of biological toxins or infectious agents such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi with intent to kill or incapacitate humans, animals or plants as an act of war.
The US has many hidden labs, creating deathly strains of horrific bacteria.
There has been a breach, Necrotising fasciitis and cellulitis super bugs are swarming. Touch them and you die. Caveat, you cannot see them. The moment you touch them your skin starts rotting. You have heard about the outbreak on the news, the outbreak is in your town.
What is your first action for personal protection?

Love Lees answer, and I'd be right there with you without the children. Am way paranoid about major outbreaks and catastrophes because of my kids. I actually have stockpiles of antibiotics because i rarely take whats prescribed

As long as I was alive, I'd want to mobilize whatever resources are available (stuff, people) to manage aspects of the disaster.
What would I really do? Would I panic and run? I hope not.
honorable, and you don't have young children or eggs that could create them any longer. Not only a beautiful humanitarian effort, but a rational choice when one considers survival of the species on a larger social whole.
you win the Presidential Medal of Freedom. R.I.P.
and yes, I know women have value past the egg sack, but the determiner of the Freedom Award was a bit of a sexist old codger.

"Gives you evacuation information"
Would you obey government and medical officials?
Yes. I don't think about catching flesh-eating bacteria, 'cause the likelihood of it happening is so low, so it's not like I live my life in fear of that at all, but if there were an evacuation order, yes, I would obey it. I don't want my to be flesh eaten. Not by bacteria, anyway. One thing, if I started showing the signs, I'd get to a doctor pronto, to stop it from spreading.
Little boys are weird critters, The boy scouts are all about survival. It does not seem to matter the generation, little boys seem to want to know what to do if they were trapped in the wild. Lions and tigars and bears, Oh my!
Man vs. Wild 1000 Ways to Die - combines the science of living and the randomness of death with a dash of Darwinism. Those shows.. little boys love them.
Or, to be more accurate, many little boys love that stuff. not all. You have to know your child in order to know how to parent them.
You would have a cell phone Des, call your lover (if you were to have one) and your dad, if something were to happen. I'm pretty sure you would do that anyway. I'm also pretty sure between them you would get pretty good advise. You are smart enough to know when it is time to listen.

But the afflicted probably have all sorts of medical professionals caring for them already. I don't see evacuating as panicking and running away, I just see it as smartly removing oneself from a very bad situation.

I'm dead. It was nice knowing you guys. I've had a good life.
You might have been one of the first at the location the government and medical officials told you to go. If so, they cleared you and you are out of the now quarantined towm. The first 30,000 people were evacuated before The Swarm of the Flesh-Eating Bacteria made it's first appearance. after that.. it was a mad house of panic.
Still, there is hope. What would you do?
There is almost always hope in this game.
Remember, stay calm.
You are very fit. Your body healthy, Lee. You can walk, even if you cannot reach your car.
Get the hell out of there. That would be the thing to do if you were not one of the first and only groups successfully evacuated.
Lesson to remember> If a person is going to follow the advice of government and medical officials, be one of the very first on the scene for evacuation, or wait for awhile and see what happens at the location first.
also remember bureaucracy is slow and large numbers of human bodies grouped closely together is not the best way to avoid - The Swarm of the Flesh Eating Bacteria!

Your town has now been quarantined. The location the government and medical officials told you to go has become a hot spot for the Swarming Flesh-Eating Bacteria.
It has been two weeks. Anderson Cooper will not even fly over your town in a helicopter. Sean Penn was eaten alive a week ago by the super bugs. Poor guy, he was a true humanitarian, r.i.p.
your food is almost out. Your water is gone.

all the republicans are saying it is obama's fault. all the democrats are saying it is the republicans in congresses fault.

Red Cross and the military are going to be dropping bottles of water and duffle bags full of food in 5 designated areas. One of the drop spots is 1.5 miles from your home.
What do you do?

H*ll No! Even assuming the " authorities " know what is wrong ,and what to do to fix it, political considerations are supreme and always come first! Look at New Orleans in 2005, or the Gulf BP oil spill in 2011. If you listen to them, you are plainly doomed. /

Posted - 06 Jun 2012 : 11:25:51 PM Standard Zombie protection proceedures apply.
Have 2 weeks of food of dry food and water avialable. Do NOT go outdoors except for government sancioned events. Do not go to said events when first broadcasted. Wait for the third wave of alerts to ensure shorter lines and authorization.
Do NOT go to stores of any kind. For big box stores, by the time you arrive, thousands of people will have been there already to clear the shelves. It will be anarchy there. It is the most dangerious place to go due to physical danger and increased exposure. Smaller stores will be emptied by their respective families or abandoned. Maybe more luck there, but odds are those who own it may rummage what they want long before you do.
Best course of action is to bunker down. 2 weeks of food and then another week without food can whether most immediate crisis until government intervention of either food distribution or other actions. Not the best course of action, but body can live month without food. Water will be harder. Fill bath tubs with water. Authorities hopefully will keep enough power to at least power water pumps. That's the only key.
Getting food if distributed will be rough. Full clothing and masks needed. Surgical masks minimal. Full face masks better. Only one gets food. They must be bleached. Only method of safety. Any bug that can't be stamped quickly too likely to resist common anti-bacterial methods. Rubbing alcohol actually best method. No organisms can survive it. Even the best suited organisms can survive ~12% alcohol, so 95% rubbing alcohol effective. Cheap too. Easy to stock up.
Board up doors and windows. Eat all food in fridge first. Once power goes out, only open freezer and fridge to grab any kind of food, then immediately close.

disinfecting lotions/gels..
My 12 year old wants all to know that if you don't have disinfecting lotions/gels you can use bleach. Harsh but works.
Boiling water and vinegar he thinks are also good alternatives! lol
(He always kicks my ass in these games. lol)
him - . lol
He has already worked it through.
i'll leave it to the rest of you to play it in your heads.
good luck.
anyway, i gave a small intimate look into some of the nature of my play. not asll games are dark. many games are silly word play.. games are a very large way how I teach and parent. I don't lecture or scold much, i hate iot when people do it to me. I have very little type 1 in me.

that's anpother game.. lol

i'd treat biological warfare the same way i'd treat a zombie attack: grab those closest to you who you care about, and wait it out in costco wholesale (or a similar warehouse store).
it seals completely shut, and has everything you need--food, water, toilets, contacts (important for me, since i'm blind as a bat), and medications.
luckily, most strains of Necrotizing fasciitis can be treated with a normal course of antibiotics. this is assuredly present in costco. in bulk.
if there should be a breech, it would be cool, b/c i would have learned how to drive the crane lift thingy and would be able to hide out at the top of a wrack of foodstuffs. i would have a makeshift shelter up there already, stocked with enough supplies to last at least a week.
it also has roof access from the inside, so i can see what's up from a distance.
