It is yucky. But it's predictable. We have seen the show again and again and again. baba warned me long ago... I should have taken him very seriously. I learned a lesson... a lesson I should have known already... but it's good to know that other people can give us "heads up" when we get caught in a blind spot. baba.. is highly trust worthy, btw. :)
Speaking of baba...

yeah well, it's nearly over, bar the shouting (and there'll be a bit of that after I'm done).
here she is, back into our embrace following the most astute moderating decision of the year: her removal. her shoes have been surprisingly well filled by scorp with her weekly manglings of her Gut and Heart (Art, take note in your lab notebook) that compel her to fall over herself to defend her friends against imaginary enemies. Scorp's not unintelligent though and generally knows her place. lila on the other hand, was simply born to be paraded across internet forums, resplendent in her little hissy-fits directed at whatever and whomever has barred her from her Basic Desire: To Get Her Own Way, and stropping around with all the predictability of a child, and the style of a fish-wife - and as i say, I don't wish her ill, but it's difficult not to have a little light chuckle and - and - and...I'm a little sort of done with her now....
I know I should be above this - but it's just so much fun.

The other John, John. He seems a relative counter example. If he didn't get on with 6w5s, would he and his wife have been together as long?

I mostly agree. I never wanted "power over others." That doesn't seem like a move towards integration. I want to feel empowered, grounded, confident, capable. I don't have a relationship to "Others" in the abstract, certainly not one in which I wield or would want to wield power over them. My social instinct just isn't that developed, but I don't see most social Fives as wanting power over others either. I see myself more as having individual personal relationships and I very much prefer that these take place on the plane of equality. Contrary to the image of type Five, I don't even want to be treated like the "expert" (which I find alienating) but like a person who has some areas of expertise. I can see elements of "elitism"...but I think that's more a matter of having discriminating taste in some areas and being selective (by my own private criteria)when it comes to personal relationships. (The latter is just a general feature of introversion though.)
I can see that some Sixes are triggered by some Fives over perceived authority issues. It's not a universal occurrence by any means, but it doesn't seem rare either. This is mostly a board phenomenon though. Irl, perceptions tend to be less skewed and I don't tend to have a problem getting on with Sixes irl. |

I do not mean direct control of others, though, when I said power over others.
Said I went to a concert, and was completely bowled over by the music, and imagined that my life is changed forever by it...in this instance the music has power over me, and the artist wielded power over the audience by impacting the life of her audience with her art.
Or said someone made a groundbreaking discovery and changed the landscape of their knowledge field forever. Then the thinker wielded power over the future generations to come!

Well that's the thrill isn't it. Perfectly safe things aren't as fun as something a bit dangereux.

Mon nom est Winston
et Plaisir est incroyable et nécessaire in Life
like Monsieur Proust...
Proust had obsessions about music as well. He was so in love with a piece by Franck, for instance, that he hired a string quartet to come into his bedroom and play it for him, since he was unwilling to leave his bed (yet another obsession) to attend a concert himself.
Incroyable n'est pas?
