In what ways was he wrong for you?
Obviously you don't have to answer that.

nice. i'm jealous; i get invaded by June bugs every July and they aren't nearly as cute or fun. B.S.
Thank you; me, too. And it's not that he was a bad person, he was a great person (though a little too vain and self-absorbed for my taste), just oh so very wrong for me.
yeah, for the best then, definitely.

A few days ago, every last apple disappeared from the tree in my back yard...overnight. Weird. Now I know where they went. My dad spotted an opossum in the yard early yesterday morning. I live in an urban area in a northern city, just a couple miles from downtown, so wildlife is sort of rare here. I guess it's living under my back porch. My brother also noticed that something burrowed into the pumpkins in the garden and took out all the seeds.

Argh! I just looked up 'opossum'.
I mean, why don't you just run out now, and give it a massive hug? I don't think I'd ever let that thing go. It's so fluffy.

They are nasty, disease ridden creatures.
I'd rather hug a chinchilla |

Have you ever seen one?
Typically if they get close to people they are either eating garbage or have rabies.
I'm sure they'd make ok pets but why not something sweeter like rabbits or chinchillas? |

I have a rabbit. I once saw a chinchilla sucking itself off and I've never trusted them since.

originally posted by Riley *shudder* I hate june bugs. I'd go on a massive killing spree and leave their little brown bodies littered around the room. When I lived overseas, I had bees every summer...not fun, either. There were a few roaches here over the summer because I live in an area with a lot of trees, but I'd take bees over roaches, anyday.
i'm allergic to bees so i'll take the damned june/july bugs--my cat eats them though, so it's all good ;)
i would love to live in an area with a lot of trees. that's on my list for the next place i move.

the only cute thing about possums is that they hang upside-down from their tails.

I like how they walk. They look clumsy and I find that endearing for some reason. I also like that they're marsupials, not rodents. There are not a lot of marsupials around.

I don't know if this happens in other cities much, but there are a few cafés and restaurants I go to in my city that have birds flying in them. They get in through the ventilation system. There's also this restaurant I went to once that had the front door open, and as I was sitting down waiting for my meal, about a dozen little birds came hopping along, into the restaurant. They literally invaded the place like they owned it, chirping away. No one noticed but me as it was almost empty, and they almost got to the kitchen. Then, as the waiter came my way, they freaked out and started flying all over the place! He had to open the front wall/window because some of them kept on bashing against the windows trying to get out.
I love the invasion of nature into man-made environments. I mean, I'm a little worried that the little birds take a dump on me (one was on the table next to mine just now), but maybe I should just enjoy the chirping. I wish the whole room were filled with plants and vines and trees on the brick walls. The ceilings are made tall and the pipes are exposed. It would be amazing if it were filled with plant-life.
I also cried a few tears today and felt that sensation like every nerve in your body is in resonance with what is going on in your heart... it felt like an awakening of sorts. Sometimes I deprive myself of a lot of love and joy just because I've been told 'no' by the outside world. Actually, when I get rejected, I close up to all the joy as a safety measure. I don't like falling apart. I cried because I invented a scenario in my head where I would be loved despite the reality that the love I want is off-limits from the desired source. It sounds simple, but there was something so healing to it. Like I was believing in myself. I have been very unforgiving towards myself and others. I was angry. I wasn't ok. I didn't want anyone to say no to me, because I thought someone saying no like that would deprive me to the point of impoverishment. Well, the very thing I didn't want did happen because I abandoned myself to my fears. I let them consume me, and I felt so lost. I didn't take care of myself, and I acted disgracefully towards someone I genuinely loved, even if they didn't love me. Or really, didn't they love me too but do the same thing back to me? Because they really tried to fix things but just couldn't resolve the issues within themselves...
There is a sort of feeling of communion and peacefulness when I think that the person who was my enemy for so long is also guilty of my greatest sin. It makes me feel some deep intimacy and awe despite the disaster... |

This smiley:
Looks like it was made to resemble this emoticon: ^_^
Which was popularized by Japanese culture and anime in particular.
But when I mouse over it, it's called "Sleepy."
Why?
It's obviously a happy ^_^ face.
When people use it on the EIDB, I am seldom sure how to interpret it.

I don't associate it with 'happy' at all. For me, it's some mix of death, flatness, sleep, closed-ness, aloof turning-away into-self. Can be used humorously or seriously. Also is attractive because it lacks clear definition.

Interesting! Right now I am trying to rewire my brain to not see it as the happy ^_^ face. There's some resistance. Aloof and dead seem far from my own interpretation, probably because of my participation in other internet venues where the ^_^ face is used more than the :) face. I wonder if the difference in EIDB usage of this smiley can be divided between those who are used to ^_^ and those who are not.
