pictures are interesting. Most people that post on here look so damned unhappy. It's the polar opposite on facebook where everyone seems to radiate.lol

Preserved Duck Eggs
The egg white has turned into a dark gelatin. The egg yolk has turned black… and part of the yolk is now a gooey liquid.
Mmmm…mmmm!!! Delicious with some of that pink ginger.

Dunno about that, Dusty! First I’ve heard of it.
Would you like to try some “Hundred Year Old” eggs? These are really quite a delicacy!

Hey, Scorp! Care to give these a try? Can’t eat it all myself!

How burnt toast ages you
If you’re eating toast as you read this, you might want to put it down – or at least lower the setting on the toaster. You’re about to have a science lesson from Dr Josephine Forbes of the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute on how many common foods – toast and croissants included - can produce chemicals now suspected of fast-tracking ageing and chronic disease. Called Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs for short), these chemicals turn up in foods ranging from hash browns to cola drinks and – sorry - coffee. Studies by Forbes and researchers overseas suggest that too many AGEs building up in the body can contribute to heart disease and diabetes – and the wrinkling and pigmentation that goes with ageing skin. The foods producing the most AGEs tend to be processed foods high in sugar or fat, especially animal fat, that are then grilled, baked or fried at high temperatures, often until they’re crispy and golden, says Forbes, Group Leader of the Institute’s Glycation and Diabetes Laboratory . Mmm. Russian Caravan. I have some of that (though it says it's "extra". Meaning, extra smoked, I think...). :) Good stuff.
Right now I'm eating a kiwano.

I'm half way through and can't tell what it tastes like or what the hell it even is. It's called a melon, but the gel pods have the texture of aloe vera. I guess it faintly tastes like a mix of lemon, cucumber and gooseberries.
I'd say I'd eat one again, for the experience. It's weird fun sucking the pods off a spoon.

Chewing kombu, a brown algae I use to make dashi with for the soup. Tastes like a dirty mop, but has anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anticoagulant, antithrombotic, and antiviral properties.
Doesn't incite any fantasies though -

I live in Israel but my diet is based on Japanese traditions as part of my quest for longevity.

I got rejected by others many times for poking at them in this way.
What is it you wish to gain from poking at others? |

Crooner while those look delish Bones are for kids..
Try boneless beef short ribs..Douse the suckers in open pit original and stick em in the oven for a couple of hours. Not a big fan of open pit in general but it is phenominal on short ribs.Serve with cheesy scalloped potatoes. |

I simply want to have more time to do the things that I care about and not degrade with age as much as some people do.
