David Fincher uses the Enneagram in his movies, and apparently directs actors to play certain types:

quote:
"David’s really, really into it,” Mara reports, on the phone recently, “and he got me really into it, so I read a lot about the Enneagram…. It’s this personality typing where there are these nine different types -- nine different categories that people can fall into. So I had him tell me what number every character was [in the film], and I did a lot of reading on that. I sort of became obsessed with it.”

How long do you think he has been using the Enneagram in his movies? Are they a good source for understanding the system, or just a watered-down Hollywood interpretation? The article links to the EI website--what are the chances we might have a mole among us, such as an actor researching a type for their role in Fincher's next film?

According to the bio of Gayle Scott on this website, it appears that Hollywood have known about the Enneagram for over 15 years...

quote:
Gayle is a veteran of the Hollywood and Canadian film and television industries with over 20 years' experience in production. In the mid '90's, her work with actors inspired her to combine her professional expertise with her passion for the Enneagram. She began employing the Enneagram as a tool for psychological character development in scriptwriting and film acting, leading to her pioneering specialty of Enneagram Consultant to Actors and Screenwriters. Her clientele has included many well-known actors, opera singers, writers, and directors.

Russ said that he gets calls from Hollywood filmmakers asking him what a character would do in a certain situation.
