The Enneagram and Integral Coaching—
Precise Assessment and Dynamic Development
A One-Time Teleconference Series

Integral Coaching and the Enneagram

James Flaherty of New Ventures West has created three fundamental Integral Coaching models with the purpose of supporting individual development. Concurrently, Russ Hudson and Don Riso have brought great clarity and precision to Enneagram studies in their groundbreaking books and worldwide trainings. Among several critical distinctions in their work, they have clearly laid out nine Levels of Development for each Enneagram type. James, Russ, and Don admire each other’s work and are convinced that, by combining Integral Coaching’s ability to foster human development with the Enneagram’s ability to illuminate the deeper patterns of human nature, a powerful new methodology will be made available to both communities.

Witness the Emergence of a New Body of Work

During 2007, these three thought leaders will come together to design this new methodology in live conversation, witnessed by a worldwide audience. As a participant, you will be an active part of the birth and development of an entirely new integration of cutting-edge coaching and Enneagram work; during the second hour, James, Russ, and Don will address questions in live time posed to them electronically.

Using the Levels of Development as a framework and Integral Coaching as a path, we will address some intriguing questions. For example, how does our own type influence the way we coach? What language and practices are most effective to coach a client at each particular Level? More compellingly, what does it take to support a client to move to the next Level of Development? How can we take into account a client’s type, Level of Development, and Instinctual Stack to customize coaching interventions that precisely address where they are in their development?

You’ll Have a Ringside Seat
This opportunity is unlike any class you may have experienced before; instead of being offered a nine-course meal, you are invited “into the kitchen” while these “master chefs” bring their expertise, ideas, and ingredients to create a new way of working with people. You are being given the chance to listen and participate in the moment as these three colleagues discover and design this body of work together.

What Will Happen on the Calls?

The first session will be a free-form discussion of the role of the Enneagram in the coaching process, with electronic Q&A from the participants. During the first half of each of the nine subsequent two-hour sessions, the three discussion leaders will examine different aspects of each Enneagram personality type in the light of the “Six Streams,” James’s coaching model for major areas of competency. Don, Russ, and James will discuss the strengths and liabilities of the type being examined for each competency, as well as strategies for dealing with imbalances in their three Instincts (Social, Sexual, and Self-Preservation), and how to coach the person “up” the Levels of Development. After this, the conversation will be opened to electronically moderated Q&A from the participants for further clarifications and to broaden the discussion.

There will also be a bonus, free 11th session about a month after the end of the series, during which participants can check in with the three leaders on how their coaching with the Enneagram has been going, ask questions, and brainstorm a future teleconference course.
