Training to Teach Riso-Hudson Authorized Workshops

Overview

The Enneagram Institute offers an ongoing training program to prepare Certified Riso-Hudson teachers to teach four "Authorized Riso-Hudson Workshops." They are The Wisdom of the Enneagram Workshop, the Enneagram Relationships Workshop, The Journey of Growth (Levels) Workshop, and The Instinctual Variants Workshop.

We have created this new Authorized Workshop Training Program to make our core Workshops and Teachings more widely available around the world. The four Workshops that we are initially focusing on will constitute a standardized curriculum so that those attending anywhere—in Sydney, London, San Francisco or Hong Kong, for example—will get the same content, exercises, and orientation. Further, in the future, those asked to join the Part I Faculty will be chosen from the pool of Authorized Teachers.

By attending this new Training Program, you will be able to become an Authorized Workshop Teacher under the auspices of The Enneagram Institute. Once you are Authorized, you will receive:

• The Detailed Notes with specific teaching points (a 100+ page "script") for each Authorized Workshop you teach
• Authorized Workshop listings on the main Schedule page of our website, in our CyberGrams, and in the advertising we do
• Use of EI advertising materials, flier write-ups, workshop advertising copy, and the "Authorized EI Workshop" logo
• Regular group conference coaching calls with Russ or other Faculty
• Access to ask Russ or other Faculty about teaching concerns
• Ongoing updates of the Workshop Detailed Notes

The Authorized Workshop Training Program (AWTP) can be completed at your own pace, although it includes the following prerequisites:

• Riso-Hudson Teacher Certification
• Attendance at the Master Class on Workshop Teaching
• Attendance at each AWTP 5-day Training per Workshop you would like to become Authorized to teach
• Continuing education, including observation of the Workshop you will be teaching being taught by Russ or other Faculty
• Ongoing evaluation of your own Authorized Workshop teaching
• Submission of Request for Authorization

The Authorized Workshop Training Program is divided into two specific AWTP Trainings, each covering two Workshops. One Training includes The Wisdom of the Enneagram and The Relationships Workshops, both of which are sophisticated workshops for beginners and advanced students. The Wisdom Workshop provides an accessible and profound understanding of why the Enneagram is useful for personal growth and Inner Work. The Relationships Workshop is one of the most practical applications of Enneagram theory, in intimate and professional situations. It provides a wealth of insights into how relationships falter, as well as giving many suggestions for how to improve, enrich, and deepen all relationships.

The second AWTP Training includes The Instinctual Variants (Subtypes) and The Journey of Growth (Levels) Workshops. Like the Wisdom and Relationships Workshops, these Workshops will be appropriate for anyone interested in the Enneagram. The Instincts Workshop deals directly with our instinctual nature through teachings about the Three Instincts—Self-Preservation, Sexual (Attraction), and Social Adaptation—and how these drives affect our decision-making processes, lifestyle choices, and orientation to day-to-day reality.

The Journey of Growth Workshop is about harnessing an understanding of the vertical dimension of the Enneagram, with all the dynamic inter-relationships of the types, to help us in our journey of psycho-spiritual growth. We explore how the Levels of Development, which provide a vertical dimension to the personality types, make clear the "inner logic" of each type and reveal how the various type traits and motivations as well as the movement along the arrows form an interrelated whole. All of these complex inter-relationships weave a subtle and profound web of inter-connections between the types which gives us guidance for our inner growth.

Russ personally teaches these Trainings, with the assistance of other Faculty as needed. You will leave each AWTP with training in two Workshops, as well as personal coaching for teaching them, Detailed Notes/"scripts," and the ability to teach these "Authorized Workshops" as soon as you have met the prerequisites and are Authorized to do so.

Home Teaching Area

Since we do not want to overpopulate a geographic region and introduce unnecessary competition, we will need to restrict the number of Authorized Teachers in certain areas. Please check with Katy to see if there is room for another Authorized Teacher in the geographic region you would like to consider your Home Teaching Area. If the region you propose is already full, you would be welcome to teach in another area that has not yet been developed. Read more.

Financial Information

When you teach the Authorized Workshops, you will produce your own workshops and pay a small royalty to the EI—a percentage of the per participant ticket price on a sliding scale. You keep all additional profit, and you can teach the Authorized Workshop(s) that you have trained for as often as you like, in keeping with our guidelines for maintaining high quality and consistent content. The minimum requirement to attend an Authorized Workshop Training is to be a Riso-Hudson student, that is, to have completed at least a Part I Training. You will not be Authorized to teach until you have completed the requirements listed above and passed your Authorization Interview.

Endorsement for the AWTP

After having completed all the RH Trainings, plus several additional RH Workshops, I always have the greatest confidence that a workshop with Don and Russ will be a deeply moving and transformative experience. And yet I am always "re-surprised" by the freshness, lucidity, and depth of each experience. With the AWTP, once again I could not anticipate the multiple levels of shifts that would occur for me individually and within the collective whole.

Among the many significant dimensions of the AWTP, several elements were especially striking. First, it was and is a profound honor to be involved in the birthing of a new phase of Don and Russ’s work. To receive the transmission of the remarkable knowledge base and teaching processes for the Wisdom and Relationships Workshops was simultaneously humbling and exhilarating. Don and Russ are undeniably masters. Their evolving co-creation, even in the midst of the workshop, was a joyous reflection of what they teach. The profound was light, and the light was profound.

A hallmark of great teaching and of great teachers is demonstrated in the qualities that are present in their students. The collective presence of those students who participated in this Training was palpable. These are the kind of people that I always want to hang out with! Together, throughout the week, the students and the teachers moved through some kind of an opening—words aren’t sufficient here—into uncharted territory. Something has shifted—we are in a new place.

I sit in awe and gratitude for this continuing journey that has been guided with so much grace and love by Don and Russ. You two are igniting many 'shocks' in the awakening of the world. Thank you for sharing your astonishing work in this way, and for sharing yourselves.
