Advanced Discoveries Series
The Enneagram Institute® Advanced Discoveries Series presents workshops and retreats for students who are serious about going beyond type descriptions to explore the nine points as dynamic patterns with which we identify. These groundbreaking programs provide an opportunity for advanced Enneagram students and practitioners to come together in community with like-minded people, to liberate creativity and participate in a larger sense of human purpose and meaning. A strong background in the Riso-Hudson approach to the Enneagram and/or inner work practices is encouraged to participate in these programs.
Inner Work Retreat
The Inner Work Retreat 2019 will focus on the challenges and opportunities in learning to align and harmonize the Centers, as well as in exploring the barriers that can be encountered in the process. In previous retreats, we focused on deep, experiential analysis of the three centers – the instinct, the heart, and the head. This year, we will consider the question, "What is it like when all three centers are present and operating?" When all three are working together, we become what Gurdjieff called "a human being without quotation marks." As in previous retreats, we will utilize experiential exercises as the main method of learning the material -- customizing it to the particularities of our own life. We will continue to feature meditations, inquiry exercises, music, and movements as powerful ways of directly experiencing the sense of living in all three centers. This Retreat is for those who have attended prior retreats or are otherwise already deeply immersed in the Enneagram or Inner Work.
Russ Hudson is one of the principal scholars and innovative thinkers in the Enneagram world today. He has been teaching all levels of Enneagram programs in many settings throughout the world since 1991, and has co-authored five major Enneagram books, including the Wisdom of the Enneagram. Russ holds a degree in East Asian Studies from Columbia University in New York, from which he graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
After over a quarter of a century of teaching the Enneagram work across the planet, Russ has focused powerfully on the developmental aspects of the system more than simply describing personality styles. He uses the Enneagram to develop presence in people and help them go beyond psychological patterns to the deeper resources of their consciousness, allowing much greater inner freedom and creativity. He also trained for years in some of the original teachings behind the Enneagram to learn, experientially, the inner dynamics of the system, and takes students far beyond a static way of typing people. Russ has often been quoted as saying “The real Enneagram does not put you in a box. It shows you the box you did not realize you were already in and shows you the way out.”
Russ is a co-founder of The Enneagram Institute®, and is a Founding Director and former Vice-President of the International Enneagram Association.
